For someone who finds learning new things difficult, developing for Android has been a bit of struggle. Note that this is not a criticism of Android or Eclipse (I’m a Visual Studio boy).

Orientation changes, in particular, orientation changes with a running thread and progress dialog had me stumped for a while. Thanks to the internet, the problems have all been resolved and I’ve learnt a great deal about how not to do things in Android and that is what this whole point of doing this project.

Now that the end is in sight I’m looking a trying to monetize my application(s).

Let’s face it, we could all do with a little bit more money these days.

Basic process for creating an Activity in Android

Create a class derived from Activity
Create an XML layout file
Add the new Acitivity to the AndroidManifest.xml and create the intent listener. Set the action to MAIN and the category to LAUNCHER if this the entry point Activity.
Override the onCreate method in the Activity class and call setContentView with the reference to the layout XML created in the previous step.
Done
